Hornady Applauds Passing of Great American Outdoors Act

The U.S. House of Representatives passed landmark legislation to promote conservation and access to public lands and waters on a strong bipartisan vote of 310-107. Passage of the Great American Outdoors Act represents the single greatest financial commitment to increasing public land access and opportunities for sportsmen and women in a lifetime.

“We applaud the passage of the Great American Outdoors Act and we thank all of the conservation organizations that helped secure the passage” said Jason Hornady.

The legislation permanently funds the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which has been chronically underfunded for decades. The fund uses oil and gas revenue to expand public lands, safeguard natural areas and protect cultural heritage sites in every state across the country.

The GAOA is the biggest change to American public lands in decades and doubles current funding for Land and Water Conservation Fund to roughly $900 million a year and put another $1.9 billion per year toward improvements at national parks, forests, wildlife refuges and rangelands. The bill authorizes $9.5 billion for maintenance over five years.

THE GAOA achieves the twin goals of protecting America’s crown jewels and repairing deteriorating infrastructure, thereby allowing more Americans to access public lands. These critical investments will benefit future generations for years to come.
