NSSF Adds Richard Weimer as Excise Tax Consultant

NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, welcomes Richard Weimer, an expert in federal excise tax compliance, to its compliance consultants team.

Weimer was engaged for 30 years doing regulatory and compliance work in private business, including providing expert testimony before federal and state regulatory bodies.

He then enjoyed 15 years as lead auditor for the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, where he conducted federal excise tax compliance audits for tobacco and firearms and assisted the prosecution of various fraud schemes. Weimer currently owns his own consulting firm that offers excise tax consulting services.

“We recognize our members' desire to have an expert available to assist them with their excise tax preparation and filings, and I am confident that Richard can help with this process,” said John McNamara, Managing Director, Member Services with NSSF.

“The excise taxes paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers to the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund help support conservation efforts across the country. The NSSF is committed to ensuring our members have the resources they need to not only prepare and pay these taxes in a timely manner but also to ensure they’re not contributing any more or less than they need to.”

Weimer will be available to NSSF members by phone and email for no-cost consultation and basic assistance. “Larger projects and deep analysis can be arranged at a reasonable rate between Richard and NSSF members," said McNamara.
