The NRA Foundation Appoints Peter Churchbourne as Executive Director

The NRA Foundation, a philanthropic leader that supports Second Amendment education, promotion of firearm safety, hunter education, marksmanship and the advancement of the shooting sports is thrilled to announce the appointment of Peter Churchbourne as its new Executive Director. With 30 years of nonprofit organizational leadership experience in the outdoor recreation, hunting, conservation and shooting sports industries, Churchbourne brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the daily operations of the NRA Foundation.

Prior to joining The NRA Foundation, Churchbourne held leadership roles at the NRA and Ducks Unlimited where he was responsible for the creation of the NRA’s free online hunter education course, the invention of Wild Game Meat Donation Month, and the project that produced the book “How to Talk about Hunting”. Churchbourne’s career at Ducks Unlimited focused on grassroots fundraising and major donor recruitment where he excelled in building successful teams of fundraisers and conservation leaders. Churchbourne’s unique long background in the shooting sports nonprofit industry aligns perfectly with the NRA Foundations mission.

“We’re excited to welcome Peter Churchbourne to the team,” said Tom King, NRA Foundation President. “His proven track record of relationship building, fiscal responsibility, fundraising and an innovative mindset will be instrumental as we continue to grow the Foundation while providing funding, education and leadership within the Second Amendment community.”

In his new role, Churchbourne will oversee all the NRA Foundation operations, helping to increase awareness, expand outreach, and grow opportunities within the Second Amendment community. This appointment reflects the NRA Foundation’s commitment to sound governance, transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership. We remain dedicated to strengthening our trust with our stakeholders and upholding the principles that will determine our long-term success.
