EVO SP (CS) In Jan./Feb. American Handgunner

Exceptional talent resides within Kimber’s Custom Shop, and the EVO SP (CS) 9mm featured in the January/February 2020 issue of American Handgunner may very well be their “ultimate” CCW pistol.

Publisher Roy Huntington and Contributing Editor Jeff “Tank” Hoover highlight what makes the striker-fired sub-compact 9mm the crown jewel of the EVO line. The solid stainless steel slide, stylish serrations, TRUGLO TritiumPro sights, aluminum grip-frame and KimPro II Charcoal Gray finish richly complement the gun’s top-rate accuracy and superb functionality.

Tank reports, “All these custom features add up to a great concealed carry defensive pistol. The Custom Shop EVO SP is the ‘brainstorm’ outcome between Kimber’s engineers and gunsmiths. It’s a win-win kind of deal for the rest of us.”

The 10mm Auto has undoubtedly seen a resurrection in recent years: Enter the S&W Model 610. It offers big-bore revolver fans a solid option for personal protection and/or handgun hunting. In “Too Good To Keep Down!” Mark Hampton attests to the ease with which the large N-Framed 610 handles recoil and pleasant shooting experienced with both 10mm and .40 S&W ammo.

Usher in the new year with the Springfield Amory Hellcat 3" Micro-Compact OSP topping the Jan/Feb Handgun Of The Month giveaway. Designed specifically for every day carry, the 9mm Hellcat features a black polymer frame with adaptive grip texture and a Melonite finish. The winner will also receive a Reflex Mini Sight (RMSc) from Shield Sights, LifePod gun case from Valutek and a Reckoning holster from CrossBreed Holsters. Valued at $1,125, readers are encouraged to enter the free drawing by visiting www.americanhandgunner.com/giveaways.

Added highlights of the Jan/Feb issue include an arresting Ayoob Files detailing the violent spree that unfolded at a Walmart in Tumwater, Wash. Thanks to the well-trained and levelheaded David George, lives were saved when an armed convict was stopped in his tracks. On a lighter note, Dave Anderson sets the record straight on some of the most commonly mispronounced words in the gun world, including Lapua (Lop-Wah) and Krieghoff (Creek-Off) in the Winning Edge. Be sure to leave the “Handgunner Gift Guide” open in an obvious place so loved ones know what’s on your holiday wish list this year.
