Springfield Armory TRP Tops June GUNS Magazine

Commanding the cover the GUNS June issue, the TRP (Tactical Response Pistol) series from Springfield builds on the DNA of the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team pistols. Roy Huntington describes how the TRP’s superior bloodlines make for a new classic.

“These guns shoot like lasers, run like a Boston Marathon winner and don’t have to hide from anything when it comes to fit, finish and performance,” he notes. “You get to benefit from close to 30 years spent perfecting the lineup. Buy one, check it, load it and enjoy it — period.”

For DIY’ers, Frank Jardim details the amazing — and achievable — process of refinishing a gun in “Home Project: Rust Bluing.” Though it may not be the “best” finish compared to modern options available today, among traditionally minded shooting enthusiasts, it remains highly desirable for its beauty.

Topping the June GUNS Firearms Package Giveaway is a RM1C, the debut offering from Rost Martin. The optics-ready 9mm sports a 4" hammer-forged barrel and 5-lb. trigger pull. The winner will also receive a Spartan-N?mec Folder from Spartan Blades and TK11R rechargeable tactical flashlight from Fenix. With a value of $725, readers are encouraged to enter the free drawing by visiting GunsMagazine.com/giveaways.

Other points of interest in the June issue include a recap of Jeff “Tank” Hoover’s hunt for his top contender — sable — and Cape buffalo in Africa in the Think Tank column. Are you known to play favorites? (Shotgun favorites, that is.) Tom Keer surmises many do, and with good reason, in the Shotguns installment. And in Handguns, Massad Ayoob offers pointers to shoot smaller handguns better, including subtle changes to grip placement and trigger control.
