Brownells sadly announces the death of long-time family patriarch Frank Brownell, who successively held the positions of President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board at Brownells. Frank passed away in Grinnell, Iowa on June 18, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was six days shy of his 86th birthday.

James (Jim) Easton passed away at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by family and friends. He was 88 years old. His family-owned archery companies, Hoyt Archery, and Easton Technical Products, employ more than 400 workers in Utah and Indiana. Mr. Easton is survived by his wife of 29 years, Phyllis, son Greg, daughter Lynn, and three grandchildren. The family will celebrate Jim’s life at a private memorial observance.

On November 6, Alan Mossberg, Chairman of O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., passed away at his home in Tierra Verde, Florida, surrounded by close friends and family. Alan was 89 years old. Grandson of O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. founder, Oscar Mossberg, Alan started working for the Mossberg organization at a very young age. For the better part of the last 50 years, Alan became a major pillar of the global firearms industry by successfully leading Mossberg to grow into one of the world’s largest and most respected small arms manufacturers.

Lloyd F. Woodhouse (Norfolk, Virginia), 86, the long-time USA Shooting shotgun coach, who retired from the USA Shooting Team in 2008, passed away peacefully in his home on October 1st in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Throughout his 23-year career as coach of the U.S. National Shotgun Team, Coach Woodhouse impacted thousands of people--athletes and coaches alike.

On May 18th at age 79, legendary archery pioneer Andy Simo, founder of New Archery Products, passed away. Andy, as a founder of modern archery, stands shoulder to shoulder with such names as Fred Bear, Ben Pearson, and Doug Easton. Andy was inducted into the Archery Hall of Fame in 1999 for his monumental contributions to the sport of archery and for his lifelong dedication to archers and bow hunters worldwide.
