MSI Seeking Director of Engineering

Our client is a strong, growing manufacturer of premium consumer products serving the shooting sports industry. Their visionary leadership and aggressive product development strategies have been key to their success, establishing them as a premier producer in the industry. We are working on their behalf to find a strong Director of Engineering to contribute technical expertise, drive innovation, and improve engineering processes keeping their technology at the forefront of the industry.

This Director of Engineering will contribute to the strategic direction of the organization as well as establishing the overall direction and management for manufacturing processes and technology roadmaps, enabling quality, delivery, time-to-market, and cost targets. You will lead a team of engineers to ensure proper resources are allocated to achieve technical, financial and business objectives throughout the product development and production life-cycle. This a hands on position in a high growth organization that requires a strategic leader who is agile, creative, and confident.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives in engineering/manufacturing.
  • Lead engineering support and provide guidance to improve product designs, specifications, internal, and external processes, and manufacturing metrics using lean six sigma principles.
  • Manage engineering department and synchronize local activities across global management, manufacturing, production, quality, and purchasing teams.
  • Manage and direct design and development of products and accessories.
  • Provide direction for selection and placement of manufacturing processes/equipment.
  • Ensure projects are in compliance with legal regulations and industry quality standards.
  • Manage product data as it moves through the product development lifecycle stages.
  • Develop and standardize department project planning and tracking tools for capturing key metrics.
  • Oversee daily Material Review Board interactions and provide direction where needed.
  • Support executive team and focus relations with Vice President level personnel.
  • Provide technical expertise and intimate product knowledge across departments.
  • Manage activities, resources, schedules, and budgets to facilitate timely product completion.
  • Review, improve, and record engineering SOP'S to meet current department procedures.
  • Provide technical expertise during subjective and objective evaluations of product.
  • Establish tooling, fixtures, gauging, and inspection equipment for manufacturing.
  • Establish and implement process control methods for internal and outsourced manufacturing.
  • Create manufacturing process specific 3D Solidworks models and assemblies.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 6+ years' experience in an engineering/design role within a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with air gun and/or firearm design and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of current manufacturing processes, equipment, and technology.
  • Working Knowledge of solid works CAD system models, assemblies, and drawings
  • Capable of managing multiple projects at one time.
